Is bundled Acrobat software (i.e. not bought directly from Adobe) upgradable?

I got my Acrobat XI standard bundled with my scanner and not directly from Adobe (and so I guess it's probably what you would call an OEM version, right?).

I've searched my way through all of Adobe's web pages that are about Acrobat and have not found an answer to if I can upgrade this software. Is my Acrobat XI an eligible version and therefore upgradable?

Maybe you've tried to upgrade your bundled version of Acrobat (XI standard or other)? I'd be ever so thankful if you'd share you're experience

I will only buy an upgrade if I'm certain on beforehand that I will be able to use the upgrade and won't buy a new software "from scratch" (since they're like 449$) to make me feel it's worth the cost to have DC pro even if I can't upgrade.

Kind regards

PS: I'm not going to buy and return within 30 days if I can't upgrade, since there are people that have had problems getting their refund and it's expensive to buy the upgrade. I will not take the risk so please, please don't try talking me in to that in some way or the other.

Adobe's contact center is kind of impossible to get a hold of (chat links that don't work and so on) even though the customers got the right web path in their logged in profile at helpx.adobe.com. Please, please don't refer me to/suggest the "Do you need more help, contact us" that's a dead end, not possible to get an answer to my question, I've tried.

Frustrating to try and get answers if you don't have questions about how a product functions or that's not answered through FAQ.

‌Not an answer but I recommend subscribing instead. The permanent license is sold, but has less features, is falling behind, and surely soon a system upgrade will break it, such is the pace of change today.
