I'm having trouble with Acrobat XI and printing to PDF in Windows 10. Does anyone know if there's an update or fix for this problem?

Thanks- Kevin

What problem are you having, exactly? What's your exact version of Acrobat?

The Acrobat version I'm using is v 11.0.17 Acrobat XI Pro. Basically, when I print to PDF from Edge, it hangs up in the process, and never completes. The conversion window pops up with the status level, but then it just hangs and never finishes. In the interim I'm using the Microsoft print to PDF, which is adequate for the moment.

Not knowing what Edge was, I looked it up and found that it is Microsoft Edge, the replacement for Microsoft Explorer. As I understand it, you are trying to make a PDF from Edge and it is hanging. How does Acrobat XI Pro enter into this process other than it is installed on your computer?

If the issue is between Edge and PDF, it is an Edge issue.

If you are using Acrobat Pro XI, please explain your process again as to how Acrobat fits into it. Also, where is the source material — is it a web page? Can you use a different browser with Acrobat?

Just so that you know, PDF and Acrobat are not synonyms. Acrobat is one way to create PDFs, and—in my humble opinion—the best way.

Well, Acrobat enters into the process by being the installed printer that I choose for output of the material. Generally I'm printing a webpage, so Edge is involved. I don't know if this is an Acrobat issue, or an Edge issue. I'm thinking that Acrobat should have a driver update to accommodate Windows 10. Edge itself doesn't have a problem printing to PDF with its own printing engine, it's only when I used the installed printer for Acrobat.

You asked if I had the same problem with other browsers...as it is, the problem doesn't persist with Internet Explorer. I'm glad, myself, to have Acrobat to work with; however, I have recently found that there is no way to merge annotations with the original document in Acrobat XI Pro. Sometimes that can be a convenient option.

Thanks for the response, jane.

Read these two threads for more info:

Cannot print to pdf from microsoft edge in windows 10

Cannot save PDF in Microsoft Edge

Also, I did not see where any said to try File > Create > PDF from Web Page. Will that work?

I read those two threads, jane...it would seem that there's currently no fix for the printer problem. Microsoft and Adobe may be fighting over who is going to fix this, I dunno. For myself, I seem to have a general fix for it...the Microsoft Print to PDF works for me. I'm able to print a webpage, name it, and put it in the directory I want; still, I wish Adobe would update their driver...lol.

The Create PDF from Webpage option doesn't work for me, jane. Usually I have temporary pages created on the fly, so there's no real web address I can point to in order to create the data for the process. Interesting that you suggest that, though. I wasn't even aware that Acrobat had that feature.

Thanks for the info, though. I hope everyone finds a solution that works. Maybe in the meantime Adobe will come through with their own fix. - -Kevin

One last thought is to fill out a feature request. At least you have your answer now, at least for a while. Let's hope it's a short while!
