I have a particular government template form to fill out. It uses Javascript.
Unless the Javascript plug-in is disabled in Pro DC, the application will crash.
If the plug-in is disabled, the application will not crash, but presents multiple errors when it can't find the plug-in, leading me to believe that it's overloading the application and causing it to crash.
Acrobat 11, on the other hand, works no problem.
Wondering if anybody has any thoughts on resolving or patching this to make it work. I thought perhaps I could somehow swap in the older javascript plug-in by transferring the escript.api from the Acrobat 11 plug-in folder to the Acrobat 2015 folder, but it just resulted in the form crashing upon opening.
Thoughts? Thanks in advance,
-Chris
FYI: I don't feel like downloading Acrobat DC trial on my PC would resolve the issue; but, after careful inspection the document appears to have a malformed fields dictionary in the following place:
>>trailer/Root/AcroForm/Fields/0/Kids/0/Kids
The fields dictionary contains kids within kids and then an array of fields.
It should be similar to:
>>trailer/Root/AcroForm/Fields/0/Kids

The PDF's JS is probably FOOBAR and it causing errors. Do you have a link to the document?

It may be the system user rights to the plug-in are restricted or Adobe's built-in security that may be causing the issue. I didn't get any errors in Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro or Reader DC. Try opening Acrobat Pro with Administrative rights.
Visit the following article for more information:
Acrobat crashing since 9.4.1 update
Best of luck!

No change with admin rights.
I'd be interested to see if you experienced the crash with Acrobat Pro DC trial.
After contacting the Ministry of Finance, the developers of the form, they said they were aware of some technical issues with the form.
I was able to replicate this on two machines myself.
Thanks for your time!

Thanks for your findings!
Shortly before your response, I was able to contact the BC Ministry of Finance (the creator of the form) and they acknowledged the form is in poor shape and will be working on a fix.
Thank you for your help!
