I have seen a number of post on files sizes bloating or increasing after Remove Hidden Information but had not seen any solutions or reasons why. I have a number of files that when I remove hidden information the file size will increase; for example from 8k to 151k. I have determined it has to do with either Overlapping Objects or Deleted or Cropped items. If I only select Metadata or Comments the file size stays the same. I believe it has to do with background images but I can't confirm that.
We have repeated the problem on both
Windows 7 Ent and Windows 8 systems
also using Acrobat Pro 11.0.6, 11.0.10, 11.0.13 and
Acrobat DC Pro 2015.006.30033.
The files originate from multiple external sources so not common trait there.
Any suggestion on what could be causing the bloating or suggestions on another process to safely remove hidden information as we have to pass these files to external parties after redaction is complete.
