Hello folks!

Some User of our Company hav a Problem with links in a PDF File.

The error occours at the following scenario:

They have a folder structure on the fileserver, for example:

\\fileserver\pdffolder\folder1\pdfwithlinks.pdf

They are creating a Word file (which is located in pdffolder) with links to pdf files located in folder1, folder2 ...
Then they are creating a PDF File with the Acrobat Add-in in the Word (2013).

The folder "pdffolder" needs to get burned on a CD for accounting reasons.

At this point she uses a different computer, with no network access to test the files on the cd.
Sometimes the links work and sometimes they don't.

When you click them, normally a window with the linked pdf opens.

But sometimes they get a message, like "file not found \\fileserver\pdffolder\folder1\linkedpdf1.pdf".

Sure, it isn't able to access it, there's no network connection, but it should use the files on the cd.

I don't know how the Acrobat manages the change of the links, but most oft the time it works.

It's bit tricky to describe ...

Thanks in advance

best regards / mit freundlichen Grüßen
Achim Schöniniger

It sounds like some of your links are created with a relative target and others with an absolute one.

Try to find out how you created them, and see if there are any differences in the way they are set up or the location they are pointing to.

If you want to fix this issue in the PDF file it's a bit complex. It would require processing them with a stand-alone tool, or doing it manually in Acrobat (which you probably don't want to do).
