Loss of certain hyperlink functionality when conforming PDF to PDF/A

My apologies if this is not the correct forum, but it is the closest one I could find in relation to my question. When conforming existing PDF documents to PDF/A, I notice that the internal document hyperlinks become non-functional (e.g., table of contents links to specific pages). Also, any external hyperlinks that are displayed in the original PDF using a label (as opposed to the actual URL hyperlink address) become non-functional...to the point where even hovering the cursor over the (originally) hyperlinked label does not indicate what the underlying hyperlink address is (or was). On the other hand, any external hyperlinks that are displayed in the original document (i.e., that do not use a label) are still functional in the PDF/A. I have tried using the "Save as" route as well as the "Print" route when executing the conformations, but both result in PDF/A documents with the same problems/limitations (I am using Acrobat Pro X). Is there some setting somewhere that I am missing?

Thanks,

Gavia
