No color in .pdfs created by print to Adobe PDF in Acrobat Pro XI (and no color comments)

I am running Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (11.0.16) on a Win 7 Pro 64 bit machine.  It has worked fine until recently.

When I "Print to Adobe PDF" from Word 2016, the .pdf is only in black & white - all color is lost.  This feature has always worked perfectly until about a week ago.  I have checked every possible setting I can think of and nothing helps.  I am saw this thread: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1993786?q=pdf%20in%20color - the setting in "Convert to .pdf" from Word is already set to "Standard."  I also tried printing to .pdf from Workshare and it also is only in black & white.

About the same time the above problem happened, I experienced another problem with Adobe which may be related to the above issue.  Whenever I would "Comment" on a .pdf by drawing a box, the box would be red.  Now, it's only black and white.  I right clicked the box and went to Properties.  Under "Appearance", the color is set to red, but it still shows on the screen only as black & white.  I have tried checking and unchecking the "Locked" and "Make Properties Default" boxes, rebooting, etc. . . but nothing works.  Also, when I select the green underline in "Annotations," it is also only in black and white.

I am not 100% certain, but I am pretty sure these issues started after I installed the last Adobe Pro update.

Any help is appreciated!

/john

Thanks Shivam.  I checked the settings in Word and they match the image in your post.

I suspect the issue is a setting within Adobe Pro since the loss of color commenting within Adobe happened at the same time as not being able to save to Adobe in colo.

Try to apply these settings and let us know about the results .

1 - Open Acrobat>File>Print>Click Advance>Under Color Management(Color handling)>Select Printer Color management>Click OK.

2 - Close the Acrobat, restart the computer and then perform the same task .

Open an old PDF which was definitely in colour. Is it now in black and white?

I made the changes two posts above and rebooted.  It's still not fixed, but we're getting closer.

I opened a colored .pdf in Adobe Pro.  It appears on the screen in color.  I then selected Print to Adobe .pdf and the preview screen showed the .pdf in black and white.  I de-selected the "Print in grayscale (black and white)" box and the preview changed to show the colors.  After printing/saving the document with that box not selected, the new .pdf is in color.

I opened a Word document with colored text and printed it to Adobe .pdf - it only printed in black and white.

I then opened another Word document and selected "save" to .pdf format, instead of printing to .pdf.  It didn't help; the saved document was in black & white.

I am still having the problem in Adobe pro where any comments are only in black & white.

Thanks for your continued assistance.

Could you please send us a screenshot of the process  ?

1 - As you said that you opened a Word document with colored text and printed it to Adobe .pdf ,is it possible to post a screenshot of that here?

2- Also another Word document which you are "saving to" .pdf format ,instead of printing to .pdf ?

Thanks!

Shivam

Hello Shivam.  I never was able to resolve this issue.

I replaced my computer last week (not because of this issue) and installed Adobe Pro onto the new computer.  Everything seems to be working fine now on the new computer, so you can close this thread.

Thank you again for all of your assistance.
