Offset placement of text with Insert Text Comment Tool

Greetings all.  Trying to get help with the insert text comment tool in Acrobat DC on Windows 10...when I click it, a cursor displays as expected.  However, when I place the cursor where I want to add text to a flat PDF file (like I did with the typewriter tool in previous versions) and click and then start typing, the text appears 1/2 a line to a whole line lower than where you would expect to see it, based on the initial click for cursor placement (and the blinking cursor before I start typing).  Basically, instead of being able to accurately place the text the first time, it becomes a guessing game/moving it after the fact exercise...making these things take more time than they used to with the old version of the tool.  It doesn't appear I've changed the default text size or leading of the tool...any thoughts to fix/solve this issue?  I'm trying to avoid the extra steps of adding text boxes or converting the document to a form.  Thanks.
