I have Windows 10, Microsoft Office 2010, and Acrobat X installed on my computer. In Word, the PDFMaker Add-in will not stick. Every time I close the application, the add-in disappears and I have to re-activate it each time I open Word. In addition, when I try to combine Word files as a PDF file ("Combine supported files in Acrobat"), an error message pops up that says "Missing PDFMaker files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?" If I say yes, the computer goes through the process and then prompts me to restart. Then I go through the process all over again in a never-ending loop. I've checked the location of the PDFMaker files, and they are where they should be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\PDFMaker\Office\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll. Any suggestions on a fix?
Hi Kathleen,
It seems the LoadBehaviour of the addin has been altered in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive and to enable the add-in you may have to rewrite the LoadBehavior of the add-in in the registry. Please find below the steps for the same.
1. Launch regedit.exe.
2. Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\PDFMaker.OfficeAddin]
3. Set the LoadBehavior to 3.

Basma

Acrobat X is not compatible with Windows 10, so problems are to be
expected.

I've been able to do this file combining into PDFs all along with Windows 10 and Acrobat X. I didn't have a problem until about a week ago.

I had this problem with Windows 10 and Acrobat Pro 2017 Student and Teacher Edition. This post fixed my problem. I'm making this post since it has been over a year since the last reply and I'm currently using the latest edition of Acrobat Pro.

What if you do not have this add-in at all on your system? Using Windows 10 & Outlook 2010.
Tried to look in this folder below, but under Addins - there is not a PDFMaker.OfficeAddin on my system
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\PDFMaker.OfficeAddin
Have uninstalled and reinstalled 2 times AND tried the repair option as well. Nothing works. Appreciate your help.

Also, this was not an issue until recent windows update. Was able to email directly from .pdf via Outlook with not issues. Now I have to save the .pdf to my computer, then open Outlook and attach the file and then email....silly as I don't want all these .pdf files saved on my computer then have to go back in and delete them all.

There are instructions in reply 3. A pity Windows update made this necessary but you can expect obsolete software to fail if you update the system.

Unlike some other operating systems, Windows does not manage any of the software packages a user installs, so the user needs to assume some responsibility in checking a program's compatibility ad upgrades as their Windows Operating System updates and especially when there is a major or new version of the OS. One can check the compatibility at Compatible web browsers and PDFMaker applications
Even if one can figure out some way to get an incompatible version of Acrobat/Reader to work, it might not continue to work due to a Windows update. One should also be aware that the older versions of Acrobat/Reader will eventually no longer be supported by Adobe so there will be no fixes or security updates to the products
Windows XP is no longer being maintained by Microsoft except for some organizations that are paying Microsoft significant amounts to maintain it for them. And recent news shows they are not taking advantage of this service and has important and significant failures due to hacking and viruses taking down large important networks with their organizations.

You mean you could send an email from ACROBAT via Outlook? That has nothing to do with PDFMaker. What happens now?

Yes I have been emailing from Acrobat Reader direct through Outlook. From the .pdf I click on email icon and SEND COPY (with .pdf link attached) and it would automatically pull up in Outlook with .pdf attached and I emailed directly from there. Also, I know it is an Adobe/Office issue as I changed the default email in Adobe to my secondary email gmail account and it emailed perfectly fine with .pdf attached via gmail.

Forgot to say, now from the .pdf file when I click on the email icon...nothing happens. It spins like it is going to open up email but nothing happens. I have turned off anitvirus program, made sure popup blocker off too and still nothing.
