Hi, I have 2 exactly the same PDF booklets (just slightly different sizes, 1 Us size Letter and the other UK A4 size) Both booklets using the same imagery, same pdf presets etc. When professionally printed at a printers, many of the imagery backgrounds in the UK version are printing pixelated. The backgrounds are slightly grey gradients, in the US version they are fine. Could this be a printer issue rather than the files themselves? Thanks

Yes, it is most likely a “printer issue” ...
I assume that the US and UK version are printed by different printing companies, correct? The printers of the UK version must be subjecting the PDF files to some type of crazy workflow that is corrupting the PDF content, possibly opening the PDF files in Photoshop or Illustrator and printing from there, in which case you really are dealing with professional incompetence. You may need to find a new printer for the UK version is they aren't able to explain and fix their issue.

Hi Dov, thanks for your reply. No, both printed at the same printers with the US being shipped. We have looked through our files and can't find a problem, so we think it is a printer issue also. Will let you know if we find an answer! Thanks again.

Same printer? Wow!
This really does sound like someone opening the UK version of the file in some other program such as Photoshop, resaving it, and then printing. That could cause significant damage!
Would really appreciate your checking back with us if and when you find out what they did.
