On January 5, 2013, I purchased Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (Order #AD006633602) for $ 222.88 US funds. Recently I decided to wipe my HDD and install Mac OS 10.11.3 El Capitan. I then began the slow process of loading all my Applications. When I came to re-installing Adobe Acrobat XI, I downloaded the Program this evening and installed it. When asked for my Serial #, I typed it in, but then the installer said I needed a qualifying product: “To use this serial number, you must own one of these qualifying products. Please choose the one you own and enter its serial number.” The so called qualifying products are: Adobe Acrobat 8,9, X I believe the installer is wanting a qualifying serial number because it thinks I bought Adobe Acrobat XI as an upgrade. To be honest, I cannot recall if in fact that was the case, but I am unable to find any records in my Adobe file on your web site that indicates I purchased an earlier version of Adobe Acrobat. The only other Adobe Products that I’ve purchased has been Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 & 5, both for the Mac, so I am puzzled as to why the Adobe Acrobat XI installer is insisting I provide a serial number for an earlier version of Adobe Acrobat

your xi is an upgrade. the xi installer 'knows' that because of your xi serial number.
to install xi using your serial number, you'll need to find your previous acrobat's serial number.
if you purchased the previous version from adobe or registered it with adobe, support may be able to help you. contact adobe support during pst business hours by clicking here and, when available, click 'still need help', https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html
