Problems printing pdf files

Community Beginner ,
Sep 06, 2016 Sep 06, 2016

Since downloading the latest update for windows 10, I am having problems printing PDF files I receive in emails. they partially print but with black lines where the print type should be. I am on a Lenovo Yoga500 using a HP Officejet 7500 E910 printer. All other documents print fine on the printer. I am only having the problem with the PDF`s. I have tried downloading latest drivers, but I have them already. Can anyone help?

Hi gordon1905  ,

Could you please let us know the dot version of Acrobat installed on the computer?

What is the build number of Windows 10?

I, too, am unable to print PDFs on my Windows 10 computer.  I need in order to generate bills for my attorney bosses.  When will there be an easy solution.  I have to generate the billing every month and this month I wasted numerous hours in trying to resolve this problem before I found this forum.

Hi howardf44236810

Assuming you have Adobe Reader installed on your Windows 10 machine, could you please try updating Adobe Reader and see if it works, launch Adobe Reader>navigate to Help menu>select Check for Updates.

Also, try to follow the steps given in the following link if you are getting Black lines while printing:

Acrobat Reader DC prints streaks after upgrading to Windows 10 Anniversary update

What is the version of Adobe Reader installed on the machine?

To check the version of Reader, launch Reader>navigate to Help menu>select About Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Thank You,

Shivam

Thank you for your response. It may take me a day or so to try this because

I work from home via TeamViewer and can only access the computer at the

office when the office is closed.

I was premature in emailing you yesterday saying that the problem was fixed

by updating Adobe and everything printed fine except company name at the

top. I powered down everything yesterday and went to print an invoice today

and had the same black line problem I had before.

I updated Acrobat Reader DC. The problem is better, but I am still having

the problem sporatically. After about 3 pages print fine, then the black

lines come back for another few pages and then it prints okay, again. At

what point do I give up?

Hi Howard!

Could you please try removing Reader DC using Cleaner tool from here: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs , restart the computer, download and install Reader DC from here: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution , then apply the update by launching Reader>Help menu>Check for Updates.

Let me know the results.

Did what you said and am STILL having the same problem. It prints one good

copy, then the name of company in bigger font does not print and then the

3rd thing I print has black lines through it. I turned off the printer and

one of the ones I couldn't print before printed fine. Tried 2 others and

the same thing happened. Could it be the printer? The printer I have is an

HP Officejet Pro 8610. I want Windows 7 back - NEVER had this problem!!!

It is making it impossible for me to do my job!

What I neglected to tell you is that the PDFs are being generated in a

program called, Sage TImeslips and are being transferred via Teamviewer.

Just printe them on my Iphone 7 and it worked. So I think it is a Windows

10 problem which isn't fixed.

Hi Howard,

Could you please try running Reader in compatibility mode for Windows 7

Close Reader, locate Reader DC shortcut on the desktop>right click>Properties>Compatibility>check the box Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows 7 from the drop down>Apply>OK

If that doesn't work, try enabling admin account in Windows, login into Admin account, launch Reader and print, see if you are still getting the black lines while printing. Visit this link on how to enable admin account in Windows : https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/kb/555910

Let me know if it worked.

Thank You,

Shivam

We are beginning to think this is a Sage Timeslips issue. This is the

program which we are creating the PDFs in and can't print to Windows 10. We

can, however, print the PDFs to Windows 7 and from my I-Phone.

Hi howardf44236810,

Could you please try disabling protected mode and see if Reader works without any issue:

Launch Reader>select Edit menu>Preferences>under Categories, click Security (Enhanced)>uncheck the box next to Enable Protected Mode at startup, and then click OK.

I would like to mention that disabling Protected Mode is for troubleshooting purpose only and not recommended, Please turn the feature back on after finishing the troubleshooting.

I disabled protected mode and 4 of 4 documents printed properly. I hope

this helps in identifying and solving the problem.

Thanks. This solved the problem! I wish, however, that there was another

solution besides disabling this feature.
