Quick Toolbar, Windows 10

In Acrobat DC Standard, I have a user who is trying to add the Text Callout tool from the Comment group to the toolbar up top.

( View > Show/Hide > Toolbar Items > Customize Quick Tools... , Comment > Text Callout )

He selects Text Callout, clicks the + button, to add it to the toolbar, then save becomes available, and he saves; but the tool isn't showing up in the toolbar.

I don't know yet if this is not working for other tools, or just Text Callout, or just Comment tools.

The Standard license definitely allows usage of the Text Callout. I installed it on a Windows 7 computer, and Customize Quick Tools works as expected.

But, this user is on Windows 10. I don't have a Windows 10 available to test on here. Could this be a Windows 10 issue?

Both of us are 64-bit. This is the only Acrobat product installed except Acrobat Reader DC.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Hi tgit,

Open Acrobat DC, navigate to Help menu & repair the installation. Also make sure it is updated to the latest version Release Notes | Adobe Acrobat, Reader.

Then try the steps followed in this KB doc. Adobe Acrobat Workspace basics for creating custom toolbar.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Got it figured out. It was just confusion about using the interface, in the end.

I have to say, I utterly sympathize with my user. That is one clunky interface in this era for something as developed as Acrobat. The buttons are relatively small, unclear, and outside of the flow of usage; no drag-and-drop, you have to use the buttons; plus the pale grey font color does not help, since that makes everything look like its unavailable (i.e. "greyed out"). I'm sure the designers are bored and it's the hot new thing and all, but whether they're bored or not, it's still a designer's job to make things usable and clear first and foremost -- especially anything in a product as work-oriented as Acrobat.
