"Print->PDF->Save As Adobe PDF" menu item missing in Word 2011 Mac with Acrobat X Pro?

I'm using Word 2011 Mac (Version 14.6.6) and Acrobat X Pro ( Version 10.1.6), and a job options preset in Distiller X Pro (10.1.16).

I have been using this combination under OS X Lion, and "Print->PDF->Save As Adobe PDF" works great.

I installed a second internal drive in my Macbook Pro (mid-2012) to try out El Capitan (OS X 10.11.6). I installed the same Office 2011 Mac and Acrobat Pro; I have loaded my job options file in Distiller X;  and "Print->PDF->Save As Adobe PDF" does not appear in Word.

I have searched these forums and other sources and can't find an answer. The nearest advice was "Install Acrobat X Pro updates" and "Reinstall Adobe Acrobat X Pro." I tried these, but still see no "Save As Adobe PDF" menu item in Word.

Is there some tweaking I can do in the system to get Word to see Distiller?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi John

Acrobat X has reached end of live and is not supported with El Capitan so it is difficult to comment on whether it will behave correctly with newer OS and Office versions.

In order to use this feature on El Capitan, you must upgrade to Acrobat DC or Acrobat 11.

Thanks

Tanvi

Hi, just upgraded from Acrobat 11 to Acrobat DC. Running El Capitan.

In Acrobat 11, when using "Save as Adobe PDF", after the "save" dialog box where you name your file, you press save and the dialog is released immediately and gets replaced by a progress dialog which can be put in the background while you keep working.

Now with Acrobat DC. when you press the "save" button in the dialog box, it just freezes there while the file is processed. You can't even switch away to another app/task. Your computer is basically hostage until the distiller process finishes (and if it's a large file, it might take a while).

Any solution??
