Recognised text not appearing in a scanned drawing

New Here ,
Oct 05, 2016 Oct 05, 2016

Running Acrobat Standard DC on a scanned technical drawing.

I run Enhance Scans and Recognise Text.

OCR runs and I correct/delete suspects. Ticking 'Review recognised text' shows text, but when returning to document the recognised text does not appear, just the original image.

Using Edit PDF, cannot display text bounding boxes, but I can select the text areas; however, text is not editable. What is happening? Do I need to change setting to make recognised text visible?

Hi Austin,

We have different option to run OCR. If we run OCR via 'Searchable Image' or 'Searchable Image Exact', it will create a background layer of text instead of editing in original image. This text will only be visible if we select 'Review Recognize Text'. For these two options we can change incorrectly recognized text via suspect correction.

If you want to edit the text in main image itself you need to run OCR using 'Editable Text & Image' option.

Go to Enhance Scans> Recognize Text> In this file> Settings(*) and change Output style to 'Editable Text & Image' now and run OCR.

Same option will run if you go to edit PDF tool after opening the scanned PDF.

Hope it will resolve your issue.

Thanks.
