This question has been asked on numerous forums in the past, with no answer.
The reason this is important is that the removal of 12+ scan devices (all variants of the same device) will assist troubleshooting current connectivity problems with the device.
All prior versions of the Brother multi-function printer have been removed from Windows 10 Device and Printers control panel.
Those versions are still listed in the drop down list in Adobe X - Configure Presets - Scanner
Note: Scanner connectivity to the Brother MFC-7840 ceased (printer connectivity remains) when drivers for a Brother MFC-J450DW were loaded and used for scanning. The MFC-J450DW drivers were removed as part of the troubleshooting as well as the drivers for the MFC-7840 were uninstallled and reinstalled, to no avail.
