Reversing a microfiche via scan?

I have a printout from a very old piece of microfiche that has been done in reverse (i.e. dark background with light lettering).  Is there a way to scan this document and reverse the image so that the background is light and the writing is dark?

This can be done with a photo editing program.

Export the image that is on the PDF page(s) to a supported image file format.
