Text Fields with the same name - stopped working

Community Beginner ,

Hi,

It used to be you could have the same named Text Field on pages, so users can carry through content. I cannot get this to work now. What's changed? anybody else having the issue? how can overcome this?

Take the attached very basic PDF as test (I can't believe we can't attach files - here's a WeTransfer link - WeTransfer

Two pages. Page one with the text field name of name: TF1, page two with the text field name of name: TF1. In the past this has worked fine, however now it will not allow it, and automatically is creating different field names upon opening the file in Acrobat Pro. Yet, it also will not allow me to rename the Text fields through Acrobat Pro, i get the following error.

Any ideas??Screen Shot 2016-09-22 at 23.12.50.png

Thanks,

Phil

(Posted in acrobat forum too, unsure where the problem lies)

Hi Phil, I'd suggest asking in the Acrobat Forums for help with this.

Moving from the non-support, non-software-specific forum The Lounge to a more product specific forum.

Thanks Brad and Szalam, fingers crossed someone can help...i'm not sure where the fault lies, although it seems to be with Adobe.

Bernd - thanks for looking - that's my question in the Acrobat forum

Hello philbanks76,

You are correct, if we name two text fields with same name it will copy the data from one to another. However, the above error message suggests that there are two different types of field with same name, that is why you are facing this issue. Can you please go through your document and check if the both the fields are of same type.  Please let us know if that is the case and provide an update so that we can work on this.

Regards

The problem is with InDesign. It doesn't create the fields correctly. A bit more information is in the other thread linked to above.

Hi Uktarsh,

Thanks for replying. They're both text fields, created from InDesign. I can't send you the actual larger document as it's under and NDA agreement, and the simple PDF i attached is on a different computer (I'll have access on monday). But, 100% certain they are both text frames, and the only interactive elements in the document.

The other assets in the PDF attached are two shape boxes, and two text boxes - both which aren't interactive elements (and aren't named anything). I can quickly recreate a different document if that helps.

I'm using InDesign CC 11.4.1.102Build

Acrobat Pro DC version 2015.017.20053

Mac OS 10.11.6

Hope that helps.

Thanks again
