To create a secure pdf w a password that allows printing, ur instructions don't work!

I have two separate sets of instructions as to how to create secure pdf files. One for Windows says to use Tools>Protect, but, with Acrobat Pro XI, my Tools function only has a drop down menu of export, create, etc. pdfs. I think the other set of instructions is for a Mac. It says to go to File >> Properties window, the Security Tab and that a drop-down menu will show up. No drop down menu shows up.

I can't believe something this basic is not in Acrobat Help.

I need a reliable way to create a secure pdf that people cannot edit, but can print. Help!

Open the document in Adobe Acrobat, not Reader.

If you do actually have a paid-for Acrobat... Check the instructions you are trying to follow apply to the product and version you have. Changes radically between versions.
