True Type fonts disappearing when editing in trial version

New Here ,
Jan 19, 2016 Jan 19, 2016

I'm trying out a trial version of Adobe because I need two things: 1) a way to edit pdfs obviously, and 2) a way to insert live links into pdfs. So far the trial is great!

However, I ran into a problem while editing a pretty text heavy 13 page document. The document had been made originally in iweb. I had no problem editing the first 10 pages, but the last 3 have taken 3 days. Random text disapears after about 3 minutes of editing. I've gone through and changed the fonts to a true type (first Arial) which seemed to helped, but just when I had only a paragraph left to go, the problem started happening again. So I started to change everything to Helvetica. Same thing: almost done and disappearing text again. I'm afraid I won't be able to finish the document, but I'm so close! ugh!

I just need to get this document fixed and I can retype it from scratch at a later date, but a deadline looms (actually, I've already missed it).

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

You can't upload files directly here. Upload them to a file-sharing website (Google Drive, DropBox, etc.) and post a link to them instead.

I downloaded the sample file and played with editing it, more specifically content on the last three pages, without any issues at all for well over fifteen minutes. No contents disappearing at all. I did have to use alternative fonts since I don't have Helvetica Neue on my system, only Helvetica Neue Std. But otherwise, nothing out of the ordinary.

Note that there is nothing different about the so-called “trial version” than what you otherwise subscribe to. It is the same exact executable except that once your trial period is up, it won't continue to run unless you subscribe.

That having been said, I believe that when you first download and install, you have the original executable that was released last year. There have been three very significant updates since then containing feature updates and very many bug fixes. Unfortunately, I don't believe that you can download and install the updates when running in trial mode. Maybe your issue is a bug that was fixed by those updates.

Okay. I'm still running into significant problems after just a few minutes of use.

I do plan on purchasing the full edition, but I can't do it for a week (and I want to finish these documents), so maybe that will solve the issue.

Thanks for the insight.
