Trying to make my default reader, but OS X won't let me

I want to make Acrobat Reader DC my default PDF reader, instead of Apple Preview. I right click to on the PDF, choose "open with" then choose Acrobat Reader DC. Then I click the box "make default reader."  However, after this, it still doesn't work. When I double click on a PDF, it still opens with Preview. I've even tried closing out of Reader DC and Preview, and I've even tried rebooting my whole computer after making the change. Nada.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Select any pdf file. Then in your Finder menu go to file and select Get Info

Expand the Open With field and see if it has changed in there. If not change it to Acrobat and then click change all
