I have just taken out an annual subscription to Acrobat DC Pro. I'm using Windows 10 and Office 2016 (Office 365). My virus Protection is Macafee
When I try to create a PDF using Tools: Create PDF I get the following error messages with no codes attached:
From Single File (Word): "An unexpected error occurred. PDF Maker was unable to produce the Adobe PDF"
From Single File (Excel): "Missing PDF Maker. Do you want to run installer in repair mode? I tried this but still get the same error message.
From Multiple Files (Word): "No PDF file was created because Adobe Acrobat DC encountered an unexpected error"
I could try other applications but I'm losing the will to live. Any helpful suggestions? I see from a previous posting in August 2015 a similar problem was highlighted but it was not answered.
I can use Tools:Create PDF to create:
I can also create a PDF from the Add-on in Word and in Excel which is fine in most cases but wouldn't help if I wanted to combine files or create a portfolio.
Thank you

Hi jmdalcock,
Please let us know the dot version of Acrobat DC Pro.
Try to uninstall Acrobat DC Pro using cleaner tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs
Then download Acrobat DC Pro from this link: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html
Let me know if issue still persists.

Meenakshi

Hi Meenakshi
Thanks for your suggestion but as I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.lnk neither of them are relevant bas they apply to stand alone versions. However, I did uninstall my licensed version of Acrobat DC Pro and downloaded an alternative continuous version from the Adobe Site. "Adobe_DC_Web_WWMUI.exe " . Unfortunately the same error occurred so I'm no nearer to a solution. I've now reinstalled the original licensed version.

I too have just started experiencing the same issue. I have been using Acrobat DC with Windows 10 and Office 365 for a month now. Today I started getting the error message "... unable to produce PDF". One instance it indicated that the word file was locked and opened by another user. I had no other applications open at the time.

Please let us know the exact (dot) version of Acrobat DC. This is extremely important.

Good to hear.... that version of DC should have included support for Office 2016.

Hello I wonder if you can help me with a similar problem. I did not have this problem until I downloaded Adobe Reader (which I have now uninstalled).
If I try to save a word doc as a PDF I get the message "Unable to create the PDF file. At least one font in the current document has licence restrictions and cannot be embedded in PDF." I changed all the font to times new roman and still get the same message.
If I try to print to PDF from word I get a notepad screen that says:
%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Error: LucidaSans cannot be embedded because of licensing restrictions. ]%%
%%[ Font vendor (B&H) does not permit this font to be embedded in PDF. ]%%
[Warning] The font LucidaSans could not be embedded because of licensing restrictions.
Text may display incorrectly on platforms that do not have this font installed.
%%[Page: 1]%%
%%[ Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand: show; ErrorInfo: MetricsCount --nostringval-- ]%%
Stack:
( )
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
There is no lucida sans in the document (and I've had no difficulties PDFing files containing this font in the past).
If I right-click on the file and ask to convert to PDF I get "An unexpected error occurred. PDF Maker was unable to produce the Adobe PDF".
I am using Office Professional Plus 2010 (14.0.7015.100) and Adobe Acrobat X Pro (10.1.16)
Thanks in advance for your help,
Louise

Because two entirely different pieces of software report the font is not licensed for this I'd be inclined to believe the message and use a different font.
