I recently updated all of our Acrobat Pro and Reader installation firmwide from v11.0.15 to v11.0.16. As soon as the updates hit our servers we got a blizzard of alerts regarding the Adobe Genuine Software Integrity Service being added.
As far as I can tell this is new to v11.0.16 in our environment (that is, it wasn't there with v11.0.15). Release notes for 11.0.16 don't mention the new service and searching around doesn't show much documentation for the service including when it was released by Adobe (I understand it was piloted for some users of Acrobat X a while back but not everyone).
Has Adobe documented when this service was included with various products/updates and how it was deployed? Did Adobe include notification of this in any of their release notes?
Finally, given that all of our products are centrally administered and properly licensed is there any reason not to delete the AGSI service?
Thanks.
