why have my old pdfs disappeared after updating to DC

Just got a new computer running Windows 7, and all my old pdfs from my old XP machine seem to be inaccessible - how do I get them back?

Hi Kenneth Clarke,

Open Acrobat application, navigate to Help menu and click on "About Adobe Acrobat DC".

Try the troubleshooting steps provided in this KB doc: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/cant-open-pdf.html

Please let us know the dot version of Acrobat you are using.

What happens when you try to open PDF's?

Do you get any error message? If yes, please share the exact error message you get.

Doesnt seem to have a dot version, just DC – no error message – the old .pdf files just don’t open
