I used to have Adobe Pro on my computer and I was able to fill forms and so on. A few months ago, my computer froze every time I try to fill a form. I deleted the Pro version and installed the free Adobe reader version. But the problem still exists. How can I fix it? Thanks.

Hi yunhaoweston  ,

Could you please let us the operating system installed on your computer?

What is the version of Adobe Reader installed?

Is this happening with a specific form or with other forms as well?

Try to follow below mention steps:

1- Check if there is an update available for Reader, launch Reader and navigate to Help menu>click on Check for updates. If there is an update available, download and install it and then launch Reader and see if its working fine.

2- Assuming you have Reader DC installed on your computer, try to reset Reader preferences,

2.1- Close Reader DC, go to C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\2015, move the entire 2015 folder to some other location like temp folder.

2.2- To open temp folder, hold down Windows key and press R key on your keyboard, type temp in the run dialogue box then press enter, you can move 2015 folder(located in step 2.1) to temp folder.

2.3- If App data folder is not visible under your user name, launch Windows Explorer then click Organize in the top left corner of the screen>then click Folder and search option>under View>Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files, folders and drives>then click Apply and OK.

Launch Acrobat again and check if its working fine.

3- If step 2 doesn't fix the issue, try to disable protected mode, launch Reader>click on Edit menu then click Security (Enhanced)>uncheck the box next to Enable Protected mode at startup>and then click OK.

4 -If step 3 doesn't fix the issue, try to repair Acrobat>launch Acrobat>click on Help menu>then click Repair installation. After repairing , restart the computer and then launch acrobat and check if its working fine.

Let us know if above given steps worked.

Thank You,

Shivam
