Will Acrobat XI Pro embed Word/Excel files within a pdf? + Excel question

Hi,

I am thinking of getting Acrobat Pro XI and have never used it before. I am currently working with a number of Word documents that embed Excel spreadsheets and Letter tempates in them. Due to the nature of the embedded documents they can't be put on the web with a link and I cannot mess about with the documents too much. When I save the document as a PDF using Word I lose all the embedded files. Does Acrobat XI Pro let me do embedded files with in a pdf? If yes, can I embed Word and Excel files or do I have to convert them all to pdf? Also, if I convert Excel documents using this software does it retain formulas/macros/lists?

Hi,

Would like to inform that you may insert the Word/ Excel files into a pdf file. If you would like to merge them you may do that in acrobat , but in excel files none of the functions/Macros/Lists will work in Acrobat (as pdf) .

Please refer to this KB article for how to insert a pdf file :-  https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/merging-files-single-pdf.html

I reviewed the "combine files" link, and I see where you can combine and excel file into a Pdf file as a new page. I would like to import/merge an excel file WITHIN an existing Pdf file, not as a new page. The worksheet does not need to be functional, just readable.  I have accomplished this using the STAMP, copy from clipboard in Adobe X, however, the resolution of the resulting image is very low and almost unreadable.  So the question remains is there a way to accomplish this??

Hi Buywood,

Sorry for the delayed response.

You may try Acrobat DC "Edit PDF" option and check if that works for you. Please follow below mention steps:

1- Open the excel file > go to Acrobat tab in excel > create pdf.

2- Once the excel file is converted into pdf > right click the pdf > select tool > select the area you want to import > take a snapshot.

3- Open the pdf file in which you want to import > tools > edit pdf > and paste (Ctrl +V)

Let us know if this is not what you are referring you.

Shivam
