Word headings converted to images

I create user guides in Word 2013. When converting the guides to PDFs using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, all of my Heading 1s are converted to images. What setting in Acrobat corrects this so that Heading 1 in Word converts to text in the PDF? Thanks!

Could you please let me know how you are trying to convert your word file to PDF.

Are you using PDFMaker or PDF printer option?

Please open Acrobat PDFMaker Preferences and uncheck "Enable Accessibility and Reflow with tagged Adobe PDF"

Now, try converting the file again and let me know how it goes.
