Hi,
I'd like to run several identical PDF files so that in each separate file I can make book marks and comments on different subjects that relate to the same content, rather than trying to differentiate bookmarks and comments.
Clearly I could simply duplicate the master file several times, I get that. But what I would really like to do is frequently update the Master File by adding new PDF files and for the subsidiary files to update automatically with the new content without disturbing the existing bookmarks etc. This will potentially save me oodles of time.
Please don't tell me such a straight forward task cant be achieved within the Acrobat software. If this is the case is there a third party app or software pack that can do it?
No, that's not possible, unless you use an Action or a script to insert the new file into the existing files, or something like that. It can't happen automatically, at any rate.

Use the Replace Pages command to insert the new pages over the old ones. Assuming the new files have the same number of pages as the old ones all of your bookmarks, fields, links, etc. should remain in tact.

Thanks, but I'm not sure if I explained myself properly. I don't want to replace any files, I just want to keep adding new files. But I was hoping I could add them to one file and the other files would update automatically by synchronising with the master file.

I had thought as much. I don't see it as a complicated tool, perhaps theres an opening there for development. id be interested how other people in similar scenario's got round the issue?
Thanks
