Adobe Acrobat XI Pro Javascript Document vs Page script

I am trying to find some information on the differences between document and page scripts. From what I was reading, scripts that run when the document is opened is a document script.  Since everything might not be initialized by the time my script runs, I was told to run a page open script.  I can't find how or where to do this.  Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Select a page thumbnail and choose Properties, you will then be able to use a javascript when the page is open or close.
