PDF Embed Api - Overprint preview

New Here ,
Feb 17, 2022 Feb 17, 2022

Hello! I am using "PDF Embed API" to preview PDFs on a web page, it works quite well but I am having problems to correctly display PDFs that have overprint.
The question is, for the "PDF Embed API", is there any way to enable "Overprint preview" like in Acrobat DC or Illustrator?
Thanks!

At this time, we do not support overprint preview in Embed API.

It looks like there are a few concepts not supported today:

* Overprint

* Transparency blending modes

* DeviceGray

* ICC-based color spaces

* Output intent

Are there plans to support these in the future?

All of those features require the Adobe Color Engine (ACE) to correctly render. On Windows and macOS desktop applications, we can replace the OS level color model. We can't do that in the browser.

That makes sense, though wouldn't it be possible to use something like LittleCMS?  I'm not sure what PDFTron by Apryse or MuPDF by Artifex do, but they seem to support these features in the browser.

I haven't looked at the color handling in Apryse for a while and I was shocked to see that they actually are getting it right now. Thanks for the heads up. I've alerted our engineering team.
