Although the 64-bit version of Acrobet DC was announced in February I am still not being offered a download by Creative Cloud. How do I get it?
Please, enter "64-bits" in the search bar above.
Many thanks for the link, now successfully installed. Still a bit surprised that the Creative Cloud updater didn't do it automatically.
This installer is not a tested and authorized updater for existing Acrobat installations!
It is designed to work only for new installations of Acrobat DC and only in certain geographical regions (non US, but English language UI). Anyone else uses it at their own risk!! Note that if you have third party plug-ins, unless you have the 64-bit versions, they will not work with 64-bit Acrobat DC.
If you wish to try this, you should totally uninstall your existing Acrobat DC installation, reboot, and install this new version. Your settings from the 32-bit version of Acrobat DC may be lost and you recheck all of the preferences (including those for the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance) before using this product.
Full x64 support (including tested updaters) should be available globally within a year.
Note that the primary benefit of the 64-bit version of Acrobat is the ability to handle extremely large and complex PDF files or have many large files open simultaneously without any memory errors due to the expanded address space. Contrary to public mythology, the 64-bit versions of most all applications do not provide any performance improvement and in fact might actually decrease performance a bit for many if not most non-mathematical applications.
Maybe this warning should be added to the download page...
Regrettably, I have no control over that! 😒
