Have started working from home and just downloaded my older Adobe Acrobat 7 software on my pc at home. All seems to be working well, but I can't activate it. Any suggestions?

(1) Adobe's activation servers for Acrobat 7 no longer exist. There is a workaround. See "Activation server unavailable" error in Adobe CS2, Acrobat 7, and Audition 3 .

All this having been said, unless you are running an ancient version of Windows, i.e. Windows XP 32-bit or earlier, Acrobat 7 will absolutely not fully and properly install on your system. Specifically, the PDF creation capability of “printing to PDF” is not compatible with any reasonably modern version of Windows (beginning with Windows Vista all the way through Windows 10). You really are due for a new version of Acrobat.

The CS3 and earlier activation server has been removed from service
-So even if you have a disc or saved download, CS3 and earlier are completely dead
-Adobe also no longer supplies the special non-activation version of CS3
