I am attempting to install Acrobat DC from the Creative Cloud on a PC with Windows 7 and continue to get this error message:

Exit Code: 7

Please see specific errors below for troubleshooting. For example, ERROR: DW003, DW071 ...

-------------------------------------- Summary --------------------------------------

- 0 fatal error(s), 2 error(s)

----------- Payload: Adobe Acrobat DC 15.23.20053.0 Adobe Acrobat\Setup.exe_15.023.20053 -----------

ERROR: DW071:

ERROR: DW003: Third party payload installer Adobe Acrobat\Setup.exe failed with exit code: 1603

I did un-install the free version of Acrobat Reader, but that didn't solve the issue.

Any ideas? Thank you!

uninstall any acrobat versions (and make you have no other reader plugins for other browsers)

clean per Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

restart your computer

retry installing

if that fails, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-exit-6-exit-7.html

I struggled with this problem for several hours (tried signing out-in / restarting / uninstalling all acrobat readers / adobe acrobat cleaner / etc), always getting the same DW071/DW003 errors. After trying to manually install acrobat from setup.exe, I discovered that this installer didn't have permission to write to c:\ProgramData\Adobe PDF (which was an empty directory leftover from a previously uninstalled version of acrobat reader I believe).

So after manually deleting the directory "c:\ProgramData\Adobe PDF", Creative-Cloud-Desktop was sucessfully able to install Acrobat without errors.

I hope this helps someone else get past this rather unintuitive error code.
