Acrobat DC installed but i cannot open it

i installed Adobe Creative Cloud, Acrobat DC shows up in there as being installed but the "open" button is inactive, i cannot open it.  I have Acrobat 2017 installed and it works; do i need to uninstall Acrobat 2017?

Do you have a license for both? If so, decide which one you want to use, uninstall both, run the Cleaner Tool, and then install the one you want.
