Acrobat fails to launch...

...with double-clicking a PDF, dragging the PDF onto the app icon and/or clicking on the Dock icon. My iMac is 1 year old and completely up to (OS and software) date. It's ONLY Acrobat that fails to launch using these standard methods.

Is this happening even after uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat?

As the application crashes on launch, please ensure that it is updated to the latest version. In the application, go to Help >  Check for updates. You may check the current version of the application using the steps suggested here: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/identify-product-version.html 

 

Try the remove the application using the cleaner tool (https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html) and reboot the Mac. Then install Acrobat directly from this link: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/download-install-acrobat-subscription.html.
