I was editing a pdf the other day and clicked on a fill field and it displayed the "symbol" seen in the photo attached. Any idea what it means? Assuming it means anything at all.

There may be a small object there. Have you tried deleting it?

Hi Barbara!

There isn't anything there to delete. I'm thinking it may just be one of those queer program artifacts that pops up on your display from time to time when your cursor lands "just so" and you happen to left click.

Definitely looks like a small object. Did you try to delete it (press delete) or just assume there was nothing there? Try zooming in until it nearly fills the screen, I suspect you will see the selected corners of a small object.

It may be an object that does not have any color. That can happen.
