Adobe what did you do!!!
Acrobat Pro DC
Update release version 2015.009.200.69
Opened Acrobat this morning and was greeted by a lovely intro showing new features installed in the latest release. Once such update was 'tabs', now grouped together in the top bar. Great, I thought a nice way to have multiple documents open, yet easily accessible. BUT WAIT!! Part of my workflow is opening multiple documents to combine, edit and swap pages between different PDF files. I do this by displaying two or more files together on the screen at the same time using the menu command: 'Window > Tile > Vertically'. I would then have multiple PDF files in view and by selecting 'Organise pages' I can 'drag-n-drop' pages between each file. With this latest release the 'tabs' don't allow this menu command to work at all!! Adobe you just destroyed my smooth workflow in one go.
Not sure how I can get this back to how it was other than: drag out each file to a new document one at a time until they are separated, then use the menu command 'Tile' and it should now work.
Help. Anyone got any other ideas please?
Adobe you really need to be more careful. Now looking for third party method. Yids.

It sounds as if you just need to turn off tabs in General Preferences.

Yes, it would have been nice if there was an option to tile from tabs (presumably, split up them all), not just from windows. You can disable tiles in preferences, but then you don't get the benefits.
Do any other tabbed apps do anything sensible on tile?

Do not fret: the tabs support dragging to another instance, or dragging back, just like web browsers with tabs.

Joshua83702‌ thanks for the info. As mentioned previously this is the only method I can find at the moment. But unfortunately I still have to fret.... try this method over 50 times in one sitting and you'll see why I'm getting a little upset. Feel like I'm being punished by Adobe for something. Why would they prevent one of their menu commands from working?! I'm flummoxed.

Test Screen Name‌. Slap to the forehead. Pie to the face. I'm sitting in a dark corner sobbing.... brilliant thanks I'm now a happy chappy once more. Why did I not see this preference doing my numerous scans of the preference panes.....ggggrrrrrrr!

I have the same problem,, cant even select option for tabs tho (the above highlighted line is missing from my option altogether.)
... I wish I could , the tabs works great for me...
the new merging tool from within tabs collates and allows the shuffling of pages etc...
did an update and now every file opens in a new window..
help!?

I just noticed this too- there is no longer an option to have the pages open as tabs:
How is this option accessed now? Help!

I have DC standard.. (subscription)

Ok, it should say "classic" or "continuous" on the About page. But let's assume you have the right version installed for a subscription.
You seem to have gone back to the original version of Acrobat DC Standard, which has no tabs. Did you reinstall it deliberately?

old machine crapped out so got a new one and then went to the Adobe site and down loaded what I thought was the same version...
it also says it is up to date when I look for updates..
If there is an alternate version available for my subscription please let me know and I will happily download it!!
The tabs just make my work so much easier...

‌It may be the same version (or not). Updates are automatic, so it would have got tabs along the way. Let's go back and check, whether you have classic or continuous. Please look in the about box for this info.

Ok, it is the Classic version. That's meant for people with a perpetual license, and it's not kept up to date. You need to uninstall that and get the right one for your subscription. ‌

any chance you can put the link to the correct one?
I only downloaded the other because that's all I could find...

Adobe say the best way to do this is to use Download and install Adobe Creative Cloud apps the Creative Cloud app. Once you've signed in, it knows what subscriptions you have, and can find them in Adobe's huge software catalog.

FOXIT READER
Now, because you have done this you already have one session of Foxit Reader open. Go to the tab at the bottom of the page and right click and choose the Foxit Reader icon again. This way you can open as many sessions as you like. Happiness.
