Adobe Acrobat Pro using ADF scans 2 pages even when there is only 1 page in the ADF

The subject says most of it. The second page will either be colored verticle lines, sometimes it's black with one red strip down it, or if I put a second blank page in the ADF it will scan it and of course be a white blank page, but it doesn't scan a third page, which is a good thing. I've set it to only scan front, and it scans twice anyway. It is a Toshiba 3508S copier/scanner.

TIA!

I just remembered a couple of other things. It only scans one page if I scan into Word, or other programs. It's only Adobe that it scans a second non existing page. Also, is there a way to set the default scanner to the ADF instead of the Flatbed?
