Adobe Acrobat Reader and Acrobat Pro won't open on my computer

I have a MacBook Pro with macOS Catalina Version 10.15.6 currently. Whenever I try to open Adobe Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Pro, the application won't even open. I get an error message saying Acrobat quit unexpectedly. I called Adobe customer support twice and did a screen share where the applications were installed and uninstalled, but nothing will work. I was advised to come to this forum for help.

Hi there

We are sorry for the trouble. As described the application is not opening and you get the error 'Acrobat Reader quit unexpectedly'

Please try the troubleshooting steps provided in the help article https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-mac.html and see if that works for you.

If it still doesn't work, please create a new test user profile or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there and check.

If it still doesn't

The only thing is you'll loose all preferences and custom settings in all your CC applications.

For me, the Photoshop trick didn't work. Restarting my computer didn't work. However, I decided to try opening a different file - and somehow that worked and then I was able to open the other file I was really trying to open.
