Adobe Acrobat Standard 2017 keeps crashing

New Here ,
Sep 06, 2017 Sep 06, 2017

Hi All

Dell Precision 3420 ** NEW computer

Windows 7 64bit

Adobe Acrobat Standard 2017 ** just purchased, have disk

I just recently purchased and installed Standard 2017 on my new PC. Seems like every 2nd .pdf I open/create crashes on me. I get the error message that Adobe encountered a problem and will close (or words to that effect).

This has been happening since I installed the software.

For the price I paid, I expect to have better results. I previously had Adobe Acrobat X installed on my old computer and it worked without a hitch. Unfortunately I cannot install that version since it came pre-loaded on the computer.

Any help or advise on why this is happening and how to stop it.

Thanks

Barb

Hi There

I have already checked for updates to the software, there are none and I have already moved the Preference folder. That didn't make any difference.

Adobe Acrobat doesn't crash every single time, but enough that it's become more than a nuisance.

Any other suggestions?

Barb

Hi Niks Mom,

Please use Adobe Cleaner tool: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

to remove the Acrobat from the machine.

Restart the computer and then reinstall Acrobat back: Download Pro or Standard versions of Acrobat DC, 2017, XI, or X

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Anand Sri.
