Adobe PDF page size rounding errors

Hello,
I have noticed that Acrobat appears to introduce an error sometimes when setting up the page size. I have seen errors of 0.03pt. This is small, but it's still visible in the resulting PDF. The actual page might be larger or smaller than the page that was initially intended, depending on the error. Is there a way to prevent this type of error? Is there an internal step size that Acrobat uses when setting up documents?
Acrobat rounds the page size in Properties and there, you can see larger errors but those are merely display rounding errors (for example, 2.25" might become 2.3"). This is not what I am referring to in this post.
This is for CS4.
Thank you.

Please give an exact example of where you set the size and later find it is not what you specified. Please include software versions (Acrobat doesn't follow CS numbering) and the specific numbers.

Hello,
I set the page size in the Adobe PDF Settings window, under Adobe PDF Page Size. There, it opens an Add Custom Paper Size window and I enter Width and Height of the page. I can do that in inch or point but there is more visible precision with points.
Once I create the PDF (from Illustrator), I can see white stripes on one or two sides of the page, where the PDF seems to have cut off the original document. Again, the stripes are very narrow. In the example I mentioned, they were 0.03pt. Looking at the ruler in Acrobat, the size of the page appears to be correct. Importing the document in a package like Illustrator also shows the correct media size, but not the artwork (which should match the page size in this particular case).
I don't introduce any offset when creating the PDF, so I don't expect to see these white stripes as they are not part of the original document. I will look more into this. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions, please share.
Acrobat version 9.0.0 Pro.
Thanks.
