Adobe Reader XI: No more irregular area measurement?

Hi All,

I had been using measuring tool under analysis for quite a while in Adobe Acrobat. I was able to measure the area of irregular shapes by inserting several points on a PDF in the previous versions. However, after the most recent updates, I can only create rectangles and measure the area of rectangular shapes. The software does not allow me to create irregular shapes. This is quite frustrating.

Has anybody run into the same problem? How can it be fixed so I can get back to measuring areas of the irregular shapes?

In Preferences > Measuring (2D), Uncheck "Use Orthographic Lines." That should fix it.
