Hi
I am setting up a proof of concept which will make use of a form containing a PDF417 barcode.
For the moment, I am using the trial version of Acrobat DC. I was able to design the test form and the barcode is working fine, updating as I enter fields data.
I then sent the form to a colleague for him to test it and the barcode field greyed out when any text field was filled. I is not a barcode overflow because thsi happens even if we simply check a radio or checkbox field.
One reason I found for this is this behaviour is that what I am trying to achieve seems to require a reader extensions certificate. I did find a trial version of such a sertificate but I am unable to install it. The documents I found regarding installing certificates mention using a console but I cannot find how to run the console (it is not the javascript console). This document explains how to use this console but seems to assume the reader knows all about it : http://wwwimages.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/enterprise-platform/digtalLearning/pdfs/docum...
So my questions are :
1. Is there any way to setup my demo with trial versions of Acrobat DC (and possibly RE certificate) ?
2. Am I on the right track regarding what is needed. If yes, how do I install this certificate ? If not, how do I solve my problem ?
3. This is all taking much more time than anticipated and I will be busy on another project for a few days. Since the trial license only is 7 days, is there a way to syspend the trial ?
Thanks for your help !

1+2) This can't be done with Acrobat. You need a separate application from the LiveCycle family to do it. I believe it's "Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions", but am not 100% sure. At any rate, it is a very expensive application...
3) No, it can't be suspended.

If you have 100 users or less, buying each one Acrobat is likely to be cheaper. The instructions you found are part of the manual for the LiveCycle Reader Extensions product.

And each one just need Acrobat Standard, not Acrobat Pro…

Another way is to create your own PDF417 barcode generator using JavaScript, as I did (with George's help) for generating EAN 128 barcodes.
