Cannot save document error

I've had this happen before, but it's started AGAIN! I'm so frustrated!  I was editing a document that I created.  There is only 1 document, it is on my computer, I spent 5 hours editing it, then when I went to save, it said it couldn't be saved because it's either read-only or opened on another computer.  I tried using "save as", but then I got an error message that said "could not be saved, an error has occurred".  I have the latest (2021) version of Acrobat Pro DC, on Mac, Catalina 10.15.

All of the options in the preference panels that have been suggested have been attempted, nothing has worked.  I just lost 5 hours of work.  WHY IS THIS STILL HAPPENING!
