Change Text without Changing Font

New Here ,
May 03, 2018 May 03, 2018

Hi All,

I recently purchased an invitation from a seller on Etsy.  It is a downloadable, editable PDF form.  The idea being you download and edit the form with your information (name, address, date, etc.).  I really like the font that the form comes with, however, when I try to edit the text, the font changes to times new roman.  Any ideas on how i can edit the text but keep the original font?

Thanks!

Jess

First, the reason why you see Times New Roman instead of the original font is due to font embedding. That's determined by the PDF creator at the time it's made. If the font isn't embedded into the PDF (or if it's not allowed to be embedded by the font manufacturer), then the PDF will revert to known system fonts like Times New Roman.

Second, if you really want to use the original font, you'll have to get your own copy of it.

  • Go to File / Properties and then click the Fonts tab.
  • Scan the list of fonts in the PDF and if you can find the name of the font you like.
  • Visit any of our online font resellers and purchase a copy of the font on your computer.
  • Install it. (You probably should reboot your computer after that).
  • Re-open the PDF and you should be able to edit the PDF and have your special font.

Hope this helps. Best to you.
