Does any one have any advice of how I can change the measuring tool units to Metres rather than CM, MM or inches? it does not give me an option for M (metres) in the drop down when I go in to change my preferences. Any help greatly appreciated!

Better late then never,  but actually, this IS available.

When you change the Scale Ratio, the output units are the units shown in the infobox.

E.g.: if you want the output to be square meters instead of the standard square millimeter you enter this scale as 1 cm : 1 mtr. This wil result in a square-meter output. The output unit = unit shown in infobox.

Hope that helps!

once in the measuring tool you can right click on the page and choose "change scale ratio and precision"
for best results I change to 1cm : .50m to get 1:50 scale in m2.

This is overly complicated and a huge let down by Adobe. Think I will have to ditch it and use something else, its ridiculous.

All I want to do is adjust the scale and measure in metres, like most of Europe. It's crazy, and poor, poor design.
