All,
Previously using SharePoint 2010 (on prem) combined with Acrobat Pro X provided the "Check Out & Open" directly when clicking a link to a pdf document in SP 2010.
Currently using SP Online (cloud) combined with Acrobat Pro X does no longer provide the above option. This leads to documents having to be checked out in SP, download a copy, sign, re-upload, check in.
So even though "moving forward" with SP, we have moved back on functionality and integration of both systems.
Is somebody familiar with this problem? Any solutions known? We want to go back to the old situations wherein it took three steps to 1) "Check out & Open", 2) edit the pdf and 3) Check in using the Acrobat client (without having to perform any additional actions in SP).
Thanks in advance.

HI williamg,
Sorry for the delay in response.
As per the issue description mentioned above, you are not getting check out & open option in Acrobat when trying to open a pdf file from Sharepoint 2010, is that correct?
Could you check if an update is available for Acrobat using "Check for updates" option under "Help" menu, You may also download updates from here: Adobe software and product updates
reboot the machine after installing update and try again.
Also, you may also refer to the following forum threads discussing the similar issue:
Sharepoint 2013 PDF check out and open option
SharePoint 2010 File Check-out Not Available by URL
Also, let us know dot version of Acrobat and the operating system installed on the machine? You may refer to the steps given in this link on how to check the version in Acrobat: Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC
Let us know if you need any help.
