Hi,
I have a client who has asked me to help improve the presentation of data from a number of audits they carry out.
At the moment they use an Excel spreadsheet template, which they manually fill in their findings and then export to a Word Document, but in the light of a rebrand and seeing similar audits from competitors they want to create a more formal looking PDF report.
I've done some reading but don't think I can find exactly what I am looking for; the ideal scenario the client would like is for their auditors to create and save the spreadsheet; import this into a PDF template layout (Automatically applying all approved font styles, colours, images etc. in the process), and then export this fully branded document as a new PDF they send to the client.
Now I can produce the template in InDesign, the client can give me the spreadsheet template they always work with, but it's a case of programming both documents so that they talk to each other when data merging.
Lastly, I believe the data merge in best done through InDesign, however with the number of audits they do it would be more efficient if they can do the data merge themselves (Instead of sending data sheets all the time, and then waiting on me); so is there a way this data merge and PDF export be done in Acrobat as opposed to InDesign?
I've likely made this sound over-complicated but that's the way I talk, but I will be extremely grateful for any advice.
Thanks in advance.
