Does anyone have experience extracting data from tax returns 1040 form or any other tax returns? The purpose is to automate the data from the tax return and add it to Excel. I review tax returns and enter the data into excel.
I appreciate any direction or learning. John

Hi John
Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described you want to extract data from the tax form and enter the data into excel.
Is it a PDF form that you want to extract the data from? If yes, you can save the information in a completed PDF form as a data file in another file format. Later, you can reuse the data to fill in the form again or another form with the same fields and field names.
1. In Acrobat, open the completed form file > Go to Tool > Prepare form (Option available in Adobe Acrobat 2017, Adobe Acrobat 2020 & Adobe Acrobat DC only)
2. In the right hand pane, choose More > Export Data
3. In the Export Form Data As dialog box, select the format in which you want to save the form data (FDF, XFDF, XML, or TXT). Then select a location and filename, and click Save, or merge data into spreadsheet.
Note: Some file formats are available only for specific types of PDF forms, depending on how the form was created.
