Digital signature - mising information on siganture properties

Community Beginner ,

Hi,

Recently I upgrade to Acrobat Pro 2020 and I have noticed that under option "Show Signer's Certificate" there are missing information about certificate. Acrobat Pro 2017 shows certificate's info corectly but Acrobat Pro 2020 does not. Missing info is company name or holder of digital signature. Is there any way how to set it up to show this info corectly?

Thaks in advance.

Hi MikelKlink,

I see You are very advanced user and your solution is very interesting. I am tempted to try it but I am not so advanced user even your tutorial seems prety simple. In addition to the Adobe Support Comumunitiy, I also contacted Adobe Care Help Support. At the end, they advised me to roll back to Acrobat Pro 2017 because it is a bug in Acrobat Pro 2020 and it will be fixed with next update. I decide to wait for this update and hope it will be fixed.

Thank You for the effort.  Also, thanks all of You who were kind to help me.

Best regards to all.

Hi,

Thank You for care. This is one simple file with my digital signature. Please tell me if You can see name of the company or signature holder instead word "Identification".

It showed fine on my end after the signature was validated.

See slides:

NOTE: In the slide below the signature was validated using  the EUTL. If you tried validating the signature and had no success, maybe all you have to do is manually update the Trust Lists before running the validation again.

Hi,

Thank You for quick response. Validation of signatures is not problem, it works fine and info is shown as is. The problem is word "Identification" under my name. As You can see on my first post's image, Acrobat Pro 2017 shows in first two rows:

Alen Corovic (my name)

HRVATSKA KOMORA INŽENJERA GRAĐEVINARSTVA (holder of certificate)

But, Acrobat Pro 2020 shows in first two rows:

Alen Corovic (my name)

Identification. (hey, where is the name of holder of certificate???) - This is my problem.

I have to sign my documents with two digital signatures and without this information, I don't know the difference betwwen them.

Yes, I apologize. I missed that.

Option 1 - I am thinking that maybe in Acrobat 2020 you need to add the root certificate. Download the root certificate from there issuing website and import it in Acrobat: http://id.hr/cert/kidca.crt

Then create a new signing certificate. When creating it  change the line "ou = Identification"  to "ou =  HRVATSKA KOMORA INŽENJERA GRAĐEVINARSTVA".

Please have a look at the subject distinguished name of your certificate:

image.png

Thus, the word "Identification" simply is the organization unit entry of your distinguished name while "HRVATSKA KOMORA INŽENJERA GRAĐEVINARSTVA" is the organization entry. Apparently Adobe changed the priority of distinguished name components to show, formerly the organization entry had a higher priority, now the organization unit entry.

So, you've always had missing information in that dialog because your distinguished name has too many components for it, and only the selection of which components are displayed and which are not has chnged.

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, but maybe the slides below can help.

Seems like you need to setup the identity for signing.
